Pack Expo — A Huge Trade Show
Nearly 49,000 processing and packaging professionals attended PACK EXPO 2014. Our client was one of an incredible 2,352 exhibits, so they needed an attraction that would really help them stand out from the crowd. And chair massage worked great for them.
Chair Massage was offered for 29 Exhibit Hours
Our client was wise enough to keep the massage therapists available during all exhibit hours. Some exhibitors offer it only part of the time. I believe that if it’s worth doing, the chair massage should be available during all exhibit hours. That way the traffic continues to build throughout the show.
This bigger show occurs every other year in Chicago at McCormick Place. A smaller Pack Expo occurs in Las Vegas in the alternate years.
Our Client was a company that has years of experience engineering complete end-of-line packaging solutions. They are an important player in this industry. We’ve provided chair massage service for them 7 years running at Pack Expo in Chicago and Las Vegas. (Our policy is to not give our customers names for confidentiality reasons.)
What We Provided
20-Minute Vacation provided two chair massage practitioners for this exhibitor’s booth, plus matching massage chairs. We also sent them electric foot massagers for attendees to use while they were waiting for their massage. This show is very busy with eight exhibit hours the first three days and five hours on the fourth day.
Plus a Massage Team Up for the Challenge
That’s a lot of massage, and not all massage therapists are up for this kind of challenging work. There is a constant stream of attendees wanting a massage during the long exhibit hours. It takes a lot of grace under fire to handle this workload while remaining calm and engaging with the attendees. Of course the massage therapists take appropriate breaks, but it is a tough 4 days work. My lead therapists Allison and Libby did a great job for our client in Chicago.
